Arts Tasmania

Divisions ~ Arts Tasmania

Arts Tasmania is responsible for implementing Government arts policies and programs, administering funding to the arts and museums sector (other than the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery), operating the Art for Public Buildings Scheme, liaising with the three tiers of government on arts matters and providing advice to the arts sector on Government assistance. It also provides secretariat support to the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board in its peer assessment and policy development roles.

Arts Tasmania has overall responsibility for the development of integrated policy and planning for arts and culture in Tasmania, and provides a conduit for developing a unique cultural brand for the State. It does this through the formulation of, and provision of support for, arts-based projects that encourage creativity, innovation and professional excellence among Tasmanian artists and arts organisations, that assist in artists professional development or the development of commercial opportunities, that develop an audience or market share locally, national or internationally, and that provide increased opportunities for all Tasmanians to access the arts.
